Controlled source interferometry with noisy data

چکیده
We investigate the effects of noise on controlled-source interferometry by multi-dimensional deconvolution (MDD) for diffusive electromagnetic (EM) fields and for seismic wavefields. An electromagnetic and a seismic dataset are modeled and decomposed into upand downwards decaying and upand downgoing fields, respectively. From the decomposed fields a reflection response can be retrieved using least-squares inversion. We show, that noise affects the EM data differently than seismic data due to the diffusive nature of the EM fields.

One - dimensional image reconstruction by exponential filtering in infrared stellar speckle interferometry : application to IRC + 10216
Exponential filtering, together with an improved version of the iterative Fourier-transform algorithm, is applied to image reconstruction from one-dimensional infrared stellar speckle interferometry data. The performance of the method is checked first by computer simulations with both noiseless and noisy data and then with a realistic simulation of one-dimensional infrared stellar speckle inter...

In this paper, we report on the design and fabrication of a low-cost phase shifter for application in phase shifting interferometry. Phase shifting interferometry is a powerful method for surface characterization. It uses interference data recorded during a series of predetermined phase shifts to recover the induced phase by the object surface. These controlled phase shifts are typically perfor...
متن کاملBalanced detection for interferometry with a noisy source.
Optical properties of nanostructures depend on size, shape, material, and local environment. These characteristics can be probed interferometrically, given a broadband source. However, broadband supercontinuum sources are intrinsically noisy, limiting the measurement sensitivity. In this article we describe the application of an auto-balancing technique to reduce the noise in a broadband superc...
متن کامل“ Virtual source ” methods for diffusive fields
The phrase virtual source refers to two different techniques in this dissertation. In the first half of the dissertation, it refers to interferometry and in the second half it uses the concept of the synthetic aperture technique. In interferometry, a receiver is converted to a “virtual source”. In the synthetic aperture technique, a large “virtual source” is constructed by adding small sources....
متن کاملEstimation of nonclassical independent Gaussian processes by classical interferometry
We propose classical interferometry with low-intensity thermal radiation for the estimation of nonclassical independent Gaussian processes in material samples. We generally determine the mean square error of the phase-independent parameters of an unknown Gaussian process, considering a noisy source of radiation the phase of which is not locked to the pump of the process. We verify the sufficien...
